National Apprenticeships Week
At TC Facilities Management, apprenticeships are far more than formal qualifications they are vital catalysts for transformation, building confidence and long‑term career growth. Few stories demonstrate this commitment more powerfully than that of our colleague Adelina Pruncu, whose journey through the Pathway to Progress Level 3 Team Leader/Supervisor apprenticeship reflects exactly what development at TC can make possible.
Before joining the programme, Adelina was working as a cleaner. She took pride in her work, but she also felt a growing desire to stretch herself and explore new opportunities.
“The main reason I decided to take part in the Pathway to Progress programme was the need for change,” Adelina explains. “I wanted to do better and improve my future opportunities.”
Her belief in learning as a route to personal growth had always been strong. Even before enrolling, she understood that training could unlock her potential and the apprenticeship offered a structured, supportive way to turn that belief into action.
Building Skills and Self‑Awareness
Starting the Level 3 programme marked a turning point. The course went far beyond operational knowledge; it encouraged deeper reflection, stronger communication, and a clearer understanding of how to lead others effectively.
One of the most significant shifts for Adelina was in how she communicates.
She now prioritises clarity and simplicity to avoid misunderstandings, and she consciously explains cause and effect so her team colleagues can see how their actions shape positive outcomes. Staying calm, pausing before responding and being mindful of body language have become central to her leadership style.
Recognising that people learn in different ways has also helped her adapt her approach using visual cues, verbal explanations, or hands‑on demonstrations depending on what works best. She has even begun weaving short, memorable stories into team briefings to help key messages stick.
Growing Confidence in Leadership
Like many new leaders, confidence didn’t appear instantly. But the programme gave her the necessary tools, awareness and reassurance to grow into her role.
“I don’t think anyone is ever 100% confident when dealing with challenges or difficult conversations,” she says.
“I’m still learning, but I know I’ll keep improving as I gain more experience.”
Through self‑reflection and applying her learning in real situations, she began to recognise her own capability.
“I learned that I have the potential to become a great leader in the future,” she reflects.
Stepping Outside the Comfort Zone
Some elements of the apprenticeship such as professional business focused discussions pushed her beyond what felt comfortable. But these moments became powerful learning opportunities.
They helped her examine how she delivered messages, how she projected confidence, and how she could strengthen her leadership presence.
A Clear Step Forward
The results speak for themselves. What began as a desire for change has become genuine career progression.
“This qualification feels like the first step towards a bigger career,” she says. “I started as a cleaner, and now I am a supervisor.”
Her ambition now is to keep learning, keep developing and continue building her future within the organisation.
A Message for Others Considering an Apprenticeship
For colleagues who may be unsure about taking the leap into a leadership apprenticeship, her message is direct and encouraging:
“Do it. The skills, knowledge, and behaviours you learn don’t just help you at work, they also help you in your everyday life.”
Adelina’s journey is a powerful reminder of what’s possible when talent, determination, and structured development come together. At TC Facilities Management, we are committed to creating these opportunities helping all colleagues unlock new confidence, new capabilities and new futures.
